WIRELESS SYSTEMS
Wireless systems transmit the picture signal via radio waves, reducing the complexity of installation and are particularly useful when the camera is fixed to a detachable trailer. The power to the camera can be fed via the lighting circuit, meaning no additional wiring needs to be routed back to the towing vehicle. All systems (wired and wireless) can be linked into the reversing switch on the gearbox so the image is only displayed when reverse gear is engaged. As with all wireless systems, the quality of the signal can be affected by interference and wireless systems are not recommended for fleet operators, where cross-interference can be an issue.
